Paul is a portfolio manager based in Singapore, and he is responsible for our Japanese equity strategy. Dedicated to gaining insights into companies, Paul is a numbers person by nature, always on the lookout for data to support the investment process. But he really thrives when meeting with company management, extracting valuable knowledge from each encounter. This curiosity has not only shaped his investment strategies but has also broadened his understanding of markets and businesses.
Armed with a mathematical economics degree from Cambridge, Paul has navigated both the Japanese and the wider Asian markets in a diverse career that spans key global financial hubs . He has worked in portfolio management roles with Nordea Investment Funds in Luxembourg and Deutsche Asset Management in London and Tokyo. His expertise extends to overseeing smaller company and absolute return mandates, as well as more traditional relative return funds. Throughout there has always been a focus on individual company research with a quality bias.
Beyond the world of finance, Paul finds enjoyment in competitive tennis, where he is slowly but surely in decline and in continuing to take Japanese lessons where he still harbours ambitions of surpassing his previous peak.
